Megan comes to visit and the end of March, Sunday to Sunday, March 24 - 31, 2019

Megan came to Phoenix while I was in Puerto Rico with Martha.  Megan and Patty did yoga together a couple of times plus did some hiking in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale.  Megan got to know Paulie; among other things, Megan was the one to notice that Paulie had a small amount of yellowish drainage from her genitals.  This led to getting antibiotics for a uterine infection for Paulie.

Monday I had my first podiatry appointment at the VA - quick and easy, no changes, but now instead of paying for orthotics in my shoes, the VA will pay for them.  I continued with my PT Tuesday morning - I am making progress.  Tuesday was my usual day at the Desert Botanical Garden - there were many new plant names to learn in the succulent gallery.

This is the time of year when many cacti start to bloom.

Paulie is getting ready for her surgery.

On Wednesday, Megan and I volunteered for two hours, me peeling and dicing onions and Megan removing seeds and dicing red and green bell peppers.

I had only missed two weeks at Saint Vincent de Paul, but in that time they have nearly covered the six double rows of parking spaces with solar panels.

Thursday morning, the three of us took Paulie to the vet for her operation; then we took Megan to the airport for her 11:15 flight to Seattle and then on to Ketchikan - bye, bye Megs.

Patty and I picked Paulie up a bit after six - she tolerated the surgery well.  The vet showed us a photo of the organs that were removed - most everything was normal except for one ovary that had a cyst.  Also, no ruptures so the uterine infection was kept in the now removed uterus.  Paulie has to be prevented from licking the surgical site so she now will sleep with a collar.

One of the Carlyle residents was moving and had tulips to give away.  She saw Patty on the patio, so now we have both the flowers Patty and Megan bought at Costco as well as the tulips.

Helen and Phil sent Patty a stemless wine glass that says it is not really drinking alone if the dog is home.

And Paulie continues to be velcro, needing a hand touching her.

Her favorite position is on her back - the good news is this lets us see that her operation is healing . nicely.
