To escape the heat of Phoenix, we rented a home in Netarts. The house was somewhat surrounded by trees, many of which had avian occupants. We flew into Portland and borrowed Megan's car for the month and took Piper with us.
The house had an enclosed back yard and deck to relax on.
Our rental was about a 15 minute walk down hill to the waterfront. For my early morning walks, I often would walk there, either alone or with Piper; later, some of the walks were with all three of us. Being June, many colorful flowers were in bloom. Many homes were rentals.
We visited several parks and beaches, including Cape Meares Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge.
On our 50th wedding anniversary, we had a quiet but tasteful dinner overlooking the ocean.
Then Megan joined us for a few days to celebrate her birthday and we visited some more towns and museums on the coast.
The month ended with visiting beaches and coastlines to the south including Pacific City.
And when the month ended, we brought Piper back to Megan's home in Portland.
