Off to Portland for Christmas, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 21 and 22, 2017

Our trip to the airport and flights to San Francisco and then to Portland went as planned, and Ben met us at the airport Thursday evening.  Friday morning, I went to the bagel shop twice, once for my breakfast when they opened at 7:00, and then later to get bagels for everyone else.

Friday afternoon, I went for a walk to Peninsula Park.  Ben and Martha moved from Southeast Portland to North Portland - so I needed to explore and learn more about the area.  As was the case in Southeast, many homes have unique art work in the yard - this yard was near a school.

Besides an outdoor pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, playgrounds and walking trails, the park also has a nice rose garden - when we come back in the summer we will need to visit it.  Here is a short video of the garden.

On my way back to the house, I walked through the Cascade Campus of Portland Community College.

Friday evening, Ben and Martha hosted a dozen friends for a holiday party.  They had the house well decorated.  Part of the evening was Martha playing the piano and several of us singing Christmas songs in the living room.

And here are a couple photos of some more unique art work in the neighborhood.
