We drove back to Phoenix on Saturday the 26th. Besides a car full of stuff to unpack after many months in Portland, we also had seven boxes that we mailed. During the unpacking, we discovered that water had leaked into our kitchen - while most of it had evaporated, there was still water there and damage done to the walls and the cabinet.
There was enough water that it had filled dishes and storage containers.
There was damage to the walls. This had happened since we were here on July 4.
Phoenix temps were in the 110 - 115 range on every day. So even though I did some walking each day, the heat limited our outdoor activities.
On Friday the 1st, we drove to Prescott where we have a rental for the month of September - we are so happy to be out of the heat of Phoenix.
But - while on vacation in Canada this summer, I had been asked to fill in for a couple classes in Sierra Vista AZ, and I accepted the request. After grocery shopping and getting Patty settled, I headed back to Phoenix. On Saturday, I got up at 4:30, walked to Starbucks and worked online for about an hour. Then back to the house and drove the 180 miles in three plus hours, set up class and taught for three hours. Then it was drive back to Phoenix, where I worked for about an hour and a half. And then drove to Prescott - I am getting too old for days this long.
On Sunday, I went to Safeway and saw this bike parked out front of the store.
In our two months renting in Prescott in 2015, we had gone hiking in many places. One that we had not was the Lynx Lake region of the Prescott National Forest.
We hiked the lake shore trail that circles the lake. On one side, it is a narrow footpath carved into the dirt, climbing over rocks and cliffs, and under a few trees. One the other side, the trail is ADA compliant and paved, with benches and even several viewpoints that are built out into the lake so that handicapped people can see all of the lake.
This was a very pleasant hike, well worth our time - plus we have found trails for future hikes this month.
