A Weekend in Porto, Portugal, February 16 to 19

Spring comes early here, especially with the camellia trees and other plants starting to blossom in the parks and green spaces around the city.

This marijuana shop is next door to our hotel.

On Saturday, I toured Case de Musica - they told us to stay with the group, as the building is a labyrinth and they were not lying.  Here is their website: https://www.casadamusica.com/en/ They have three different performance spaces.  The largest has double undulating glass windows and special wood to eliminate outside noise and echos inside.  There is also a window behind the stage so that you can see the statue outside in the large roundabout.

The building is of an iconic shape.

Artwork and murals abound in the city.

I had a nice latte and piece of cake at the cafe at the Porto Botanical Garden, but I was not impressed with the garden.  The garden at the Crystal Palace was free and was much nicer.

Sunday was a quiet day with everyone doing their own thing until we met for lunch on the south side of the Douro River.  After lunch, I walked back to the hotel.  And at 4:00 we six team members went by van to the Fuller Center Domus in town of Palmeira, a suburb of the city of Braga, in the province of Braga.
