Since Ben and Martha are moving to Portland for at least the next three years, and Megan now splits her time between Ketchikan and Antarctica, we decided to put the condo up for sale. We got an offer within a week, and we have been busy cleaning out the condo. Some things will go with us to Phoenix. Some things have gone in the trash. And many things have been donated to Habitat ReStore and Goodwill. Rather than making lists of things to attach to the receipts, I have taken photos and attached copies to the receipts; this should be more than adequate for tax records.
Of course, Mr. Shadow has to have his regular walks during all these changes. He is very anxious as he sees things leaving the house - he appears to be worried that he will be left behind.
Spring has truly arrived and summer is on the way, even in northern Vermont.
And the woodpeckers still come. We had taken down the birdfeeders when we were showing the condo, but then put them back up after we accepted an offer. One morning we had two woodpeckers at once (a hairy and a downy), one on the suet and one eating seeds on the deck.
On Saturday, May 24, I picked up the sixteen foot rental truck from Penske. Ben came and helped me load the big pieces of furniture, and then Patty and I finished loading the truck with our things that we wanted to keep. We also took some of Megan's stuff to store in Phoenix, and some to bring to her in Ketchikan. And also some of Ben and Martha's things that we will bring to them in Portland. But the truck was all set by Saturday afternoon and ready to leave on Monday morning.
