Birds on the brain #3, Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium, Litchfield, AZ, Wed. Dec. 10, 2018

Wednesday morning, Helen and I walked to the French Grocery, where we met sisters Anne, Jane and Meg for breakfast, and caught up on what is happening with both families.  While there, I noticed that they serve Créole Cuisine and sent photos to my friend Glenn - he is from Louisiana but did not know about the French Grocery and wants to try their food.

After breakfast, Helen and I walked to Basha's to get ingredients for beef bourguignon.  We also checked out the Educated Guess cabernet sauvignon - Patty has recently discovered this wine and wants us to look for it when we go out shopping.

Helen and I then drove 45 minutes to Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield.  Helen had visited here on a previous trip and wanted to make a return visit.

Even before you get to the ticket booth, you are greeted by friendly birds.

Being a zoo and aquarium, they have all manner of wildlife, so after buying tickets we wondered through a section with birds.  Some are in cages but many are wandering around loose.

We had lunch and then went for what Helen really wanted, the one o'clock feeding of the lory parrots.  They have a bucket with pieces of apples which you hold in your hands and they literally eat out of your hand.

We spent the remaining three hours of our visit checking out the aquarium, the new safari area and much more.

We saw the three thirty sea lion show.

We ended with the four o'clock feeding of the penguins.  Then it was on to Luke AFB to see if we could find the Educated Guess wine at the BX - but new procedures are in place.  Helen had to have a background check and a temporary visitor photo ID created to visit the base.  After getting that done, we went shopping but they did not have the wine.  So it was back home for a fine dinner of beef bourgingnon made by Patty and a quiet evening watching the Daily Show.
