Vaughan Town in Alcazar de San Juan, January 25 - 30, 2026

As scheduled, I joined the group on Sunday morning for the bus ride to Alcazar de San Juan.  After checking in and eating lunch at the Hotel Intelier Airen, I led a group to visit the Museo Casa de Hildago: http://www.turismoalcazar.es/index.php/que-ver/hidalgo  A hildalgo is a member of the Spanish Nobility.  They had some interesting viewpoints on life.  Much of the museum signage was in both English and Spanish.  For some reason, most of my photos from the museum did not survive. Their website is in Spanish, but you can see much more here:

On Monday, we had one of the usual group projects (create a magical product) and usual schedule with one-on-ones, phrasal verbs, idioms and classes.

On Wednesday, we had a photo scavenger hunt.  Teams of five or six people had to submit five photos, one in each category: fiesta, nature, modern art, rock stars and a surprise.  Our group took multiple photos for each category, then submitted what we thought were the best one.  All groups competed and we looked at the photos Thursday evening.

Our team finished early, so we stopped to check out the Plaza de Toros, or bullfighting arena.  Much to our surprise, we found a bar and music performance area staffed by an elderly gentleman.  We had drinks and tapas, music and photo opportunities.

On Thursday, we had time to wander the town, see a local church, info about Don Quixote and a tour of a museum.

We had a couple of group activities.

On Friday, we had a graduation ceremony, lunch and the bus back to Madrid.  Friday evening, I went to the regular meeting of the English Speaking Group at Via 22, and had a nice evening chatting with people I have known for years.

And then Saturday it was back to the USA.
