Sunday, a quiet last day in Ulaanbaatar

It has been a busy and exciting week, so it was time for a quieter, more relaxing day.  Sunday was also the day when the rest of our team arrived.

After breakfast, I made a quick trip to the store and ATM.  It had rained during the night and Ulaanbaatar does not have a good system to deal with surface water run off.  Thus, flooded intersections are common.

Carla arrived from California after spending two days in Beijing.  Kim and Susan arrived from Australia.  After getting settled in, they joined Thai and me for a walk into the city center.  I noticed that there is some recycling being done in Ulaanbaatar with municipal trash cans being labelled for recycling and trash.

After walking for a short while, we stopped for lunch at the Broadway Restaurant - they have outside seating on the patio.  We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch.  I was tired and not feeling 100%, so I went back and took a nap.

The rest of the crew arrived during the afternoonand we had our first team dinner and orientation in the hotel restaurant.

Jeannie, Kim

Carla, Susan

Erika, Franz

Thai, Lara, Grace, Billy

We all learned some basic info about each other, more about Mongolia, and about our build - including that we will be working on three houses instead of two as planned.  We will also be having another volunteer build with us - he is a retired and lives in Ulaanbaatar.  And then it was time to rest up for the trip to Darkhan.
