Monday morning, we had breakfast closer to the requested 7:00 scheduled time, then we gathered across the street at our lunch/dinner house to split into two teams. I was part of team alpha and we rode in the back of a pickup the one and a half miles to our build site.
The house needed the temporary patio replaced including tearing down the old one.
Our tasks included taking off the roof, removing the wooden columns and making new concrete columns including much rebar cutting, bending and wiring together.
Here is a short video of Peggy digging one of the holes for the columns.
After the morning work, six people rode back in the truck, but Peggy and I walked back. We had a delightful lunch as usual, followed by about a 40 minute break. Then I walked back to the build site. On the way, I passed this construction site for a new restaurant.
I also passed the two fish farms. Farallon Aquaculture is where they grow shrimp.
Grupo Pescanova is a fish farm next door to Farallon and also grows shrimp here.
Back at the work site, we continued to work on the holes for the columns - 24 inches by 24 inches square and 30 inches deep.
Here is another short video.
Next door to the build site, the homeowner uses his home as a small hardware store (mini ferrateria), while the house across the street has retreaded tires - yet in spite of a business, the house is not a very well built house.
