We checked into our Flagstaff rental Saturday afternoon. After visiting Shawn's grandson Quinn (he is a student at NAU here in Flagstaff), Shawn and Anne joined us for a laid back evening. Sunday morning, Anne and I were up early. We had coffee outside by the front door, then about 6:45 decided to go for a walk. As we went down the driveway, a good sized coyote trotted out from between our rental and the house next door. And as we walked down our street, we saw a family of deer. Although this is a large suburban development with more than 2,000 homes, there is still plenty of wildlife here.
Anne and I went out for a half mile, then turned back to the house. I continued on alone to do a loop around part of the neighborhood to get some exercise. One of the homes I passed had several pieces of antique farm equipment in the yard, including this piece that was labelled "Museum Club Route 66."
A few houses further and I found this large group of ducks feeding in the front yard of a home.
As I continued on, I came to the 10th tee of the Continental Country Club (one of three golf courses in this development) which provided a nice view of Mt. Elden in the distance.
There are both many single family detached homes and townhomes/condos lining the different fairways of the golf courses.
There are also signs of conflict between neighbors including these signs by a women complaining about problems over the boundary line with the abutting neighbor - problems for the past 25+ years!!
Once back to our rental, I took this photo of Mt. Elden in the distance as you look northeast down our street and of the home we are renting.
This will be a fun rental away from the heat of Phoenix.
