March 2017, part 2: Megan visits for two weeks

After working nearly five months at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, Megan and Jon vacationed in New Zealand and the Cook Islands.  Jon then went to visit his family in Virginia and Megan came to visit us in Portland.  We had a great time visiting with, taking her shopping, listening to her stories and viewing her photos.

We went to the annual Crab and Wine Festival at Anam Cara's and Chehelam Vineyard's tasting rooms in Newburgh - good food and great Oregon wines.

We hiked many places, including Powell Butte.

We enjoyed great wine and food at Southeast Wine Collective.

We visited Fort Vancouver National Historic Site including Pearson Air Museum.

We had more hikes and shopping and then packing.  On Megan's last night, we went out to Park Kitchen Restaurant to celebrate Patty's birthday and to wish Megan well on her onward travels to Ketchikan on the 30th.  Megan is now safely ensconced in her apartment there and has started work again at Misty Fjords Air and Marina.

After Megan left, Patty and I went to see Wolf OR-7 Expedition, a movie about the reintroduction of wild gray wolves in Oregon.
