Hurricane Rosa in Phoenix, Oct. 1 and 2, 2018

Hurricane Rosa came in from the Pacific Ocean, traveled northeast across the northern half of the Baja Peninsula and into Arizona - I believe technically it was downgraded to a tropical depression when it hit - besides cooling off the metro Phoenix area and increasing the humidity, it dumped record amounts of rain.  Average annual rainfall for Phoenix is about 7.5 inches - but it dropped more than 2.5 inches in two days and more rain is forecast for the following weekend.  Here are a couple of photos I took while walking to and from Basha's Grocery Store - the parking lot became a small lake.

The rain was so heavy that at home, we had to build a small dam across the front door so that water would not leak in under the door.  This has never happened in the 15 years we have been here - the water just did not drain away and as the puddle grew, it moved toward our door.  This was minor to what was reported in the news - many people had damage from the high water level and flooding in homes and businesses.
