The reason Helen flew in from Massachusetts and Megan flew in from Alaska was Ben's graduation from his three years as an Internal Medicine Resident at Providence Portland Medical Center. Among other things, I learned that the program does not focus on traditional students who have gone straight from college to medical school to residency, but rather on those who had done other things in life. We were among some 200 plus family members, first and second year residents, hospital staff and faculty who honored Dr. Ben and the eight other residents who survived three years of 80 plus hour weeks. Bless them all for their hard work.
