High Desert Museum, Bend, OR Wednesday June 7, 2017

We left our hotel in La Pine and drove north towards Bend.  We stopped at the High Desert Museum on the south side of Bend.

Among the many things to see and watch, they had a North American porcupine in one of the glassed in viewing atria.

They also had a bobcat.

They had a section with Native American history and artifacts, another on the white settlers who moved there and a nice section on WWII history, as there had been a large army camp nearby.

There were several other buildings and displays, but the big draw is the 12:30 raptor show.   They warn you to stay still, whether sitting or standing, as the different birds swoop through the audience.  Quite the show!!

After the show, we headed out for our picnic lunch and found this fun sign.

After lunch, it was on to Portland to unpack and do laundry after eight days on the road and then we went to the airport Wednesday evening to pick up my sister Helen - she flew in for Ben's graduation ceremony.
