Napa Valley Wine Train Tuesday April 5

For Tuesday, Patty had booked us with the birthday package on the Napa Valley Wine Train.  Before leaving, I took some more photos of the White House Inn - it is really a lovely property.

After breakfast, we walked downtown and I bought a shirt at Kohl's Department Store, and then we walked to the train station.  Napa has an active arts community and there is an art walk - although we did not walk, we did come across numerous artworks, including this huge hummingbird statue and this "One World" turtle statue.

We also came across a velociraptor - I talked with the crew; they were in Napa to map the underground fault lines in the area.

We got to the station, checked in, waited a bit, listened to an oral history of the train and then boarded.  We had a table for four to ourselves.

We had a delightful lunch with several glasses of wine and then got off when the train reached the Grgich Winery, and had a great tour of the winery, sampled four of their wines and bought several bottles.

Back on the train, on the ride back to Napa, we had dessert and several more wines to sample.  Then it was the 20 minute walk back to the White House Inn.  It was unseasonably warm (many people said hot, but after being in Phoenix, this was comfortable) and Patty decided to take a break to sit in the shade and admire the unusual small windmill.

We got back to the White House Inn in time for wine social and Patty took a nap by the pool.  I went to Hudson's at the Oxbow Market and got salads for dinner for us to have back in our room.
