Our last morning in Whitefish and then off to Canada, Saturday July 15, 2017

Apparently there was an antique car event in Whitefish this weekend, and at least five owners were staying at the Big Mountain Lodge where we were staying.  It was nice to see these cars that were in prime condition.

As I went on my morning walk, I encountered several of this friendly fellows.

As long as he thought he was hidden, he was not afraid of my passing nearby.

We easily passed through the border at the Roosville B.C. port of entry.  We stopped at the Koocanusa Rest Area to swap drivers.

We stopped at the Visitors Center for the Kootenay National Park in Radium Hot Springs, B.C.  This is a very nice Canadian town and a great visitors center.  We had our picnic lunch on one of their picnic tables.

I apologize for the blurry photo, but think it is interesting that they have a $25,000 fine for feeding wild animals.

We left Radium Hot Springs and headed north on the scenic Kootenay Highway.  Just outside of town we were stopped by construction and while it was hot and sunny, we were in the shade in this narrow pass between tall cliffs.

Just around the corner, we came across this group of bighorn sheep grazing by the side of the road.

The highway parallels the Kootenay River - amazing scenery.

  1. I think you saw a magpie. (Lucky!) They appear to have black-billed magpies there.
