Back in Phoenix for the last two weeks of October, 2018

After returning from Spain, the end of October included several days readjusting to the local time and enjoying a lot of activities.

We saw several movies.  "A Simple Favor" was billed as a mystery thriller but was more of a farce.

AARP had a special showing of "What They Had" that included speakers from the Arizona Agency on Aging, Hospice of the Valley and Duet Home Services, and materials about finding help with providing care for elderly family members - a special focus was on taking care of the caregivers.  Meals were provided by Chick-Fil-A.  And it was all free because of our membership in AARP. The movie was about a couple in their 70s, she had dementia and he had heart problems, and their two adult children argued with each other about what to do with/for their parents, as well as arguing with the parents.

"Free Solo" was about Alex Honnold and his free solo climbing (no ropes) of El Capitan's 3,000 foot vertical rock face at Yosemite National Park.

One Friday evening, we had dinner with Anne and Shawn at Houston's in Scottsdale, including sharing one dessert between the four of us.

And we enjoyed a delightful Sunday afternoon concert at the Desert Botanical Garden by The Sugar Thieves, and after the concert stayed for the Klip Collective Electric Light Show.

I volunteered as a Path guide at the Thursday evening showings of the Klip Collective Electric Light Show.

The Garden also has a nice exhibit in Ottesen Gallery of some of the work of local artist Frank Gonzalez.

Some of the DBG plants are blooming now, apparently because of the unusual amount of rain from Hurricane Rosa at the beginning of October.

And on Halloween, some of the Tuesday docents added hats to their docent uniforms.
