Dia de los Muertas and Scottsdale Food Tour, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3 and 4, 2018

On Saturday, Ben flew in for a long weekend.  Saturday afternoon, Patty, Ben and I went to the Desert Botanical Garden.  We got there just before the procession began for the Dia de los Muertas and watched as they passed by on their way to the Sunset Plaza.

After the procession, we went into Webster Hall and saw the Offrendas - the displays made by different artists to remember family members who had died.

We then went to the Patio Cafe where we shared a bottle of pinot noir wine while we ate dinner and watched (and listened to) the Klip Collective Electric Light Show on the butte behind the patio.  After dinner, we then wandered through the garden to see and hear the six other parts of the light show.

On Sunday, we three went to the Old Town Scottsdale Food Tour led by Jessica from Taste It Tours.  We started at the Museum of the West in front of a bronze statue made by Dave McGary.

We then began the tour by walking to Craft 64 where they brew their own beers, eight of which are among the 30+ they have on tap.  Our sample included a cucumber flavored beer - while it sounds strange, it was excellent.  We then also sampled two pizzas, one with figs and arugula, and one a traditional margherita - both were excellent.

Then it was on to Cornish Pasty Co., Cool Italiano Gelato, Alo Cafe, Los Olivos and Ruze Cake Co. - all were excellent and had more than enough food and drinks for us.  On the way to Los Olivos, we passed through the area that Scottsdale had exhibits for the Dia de los Muertas holiday.

Sunday evening, we three went to Stock and Stable, one of the many new restaurants within walking distance of our condo, and had dinner outside on the patio.  It was a great weekend with Dr. Ben visiting here.
